Accessible Living Options is expanding and can now offer Home Care Packages to provide services to help people over 65 to remain living in their own home.  ALO is a Bathurst based organisation that has been a trusted local provider in the Bathurst Community for 24 years first as Evans Community Options and Bathurst Independent Living Services now as ALO.

ALO Executive Officer Cheryl Keogh explains “we are delighted that we can now offer local people such a great local service.  The packages, which are subsidised by the Federal Government, are adaptable for people’s needs.  Some people might need help to do their heavy cleaning, to be taken to medical appointments or to get the groceries, other people may need help with personal care.  ALO has a group of local committed support workers who are ready to assist people to remain living in their own home.  The support workers are all trained, experienced and trusted members of the ALO staff.”

Denise Simpson, Social Support Coordinator at ALO explains further “services available under a Home Care Package are structured and personalised for each participant. Our support workers partner with older people to help to make it possible for them to remain in their own home.  We work with people individually to understand exactly what they need and then plan how we can help.  Rarely do two support packages look the same.  ”

“The benefit of being a local organisation is we can provide personalised service”, added Ms Keogh.  “We have a long history or delivering high quality services to people with disabilities in Bathurst and across the Blue Mountains.  It is very satisfying to now offer the same high quality local service to older people.”

Home Care Packages are accessed through My Aged Care.  Staff at ALO can help people explore what type of support they need, guide them through the process and then connect them with My Aged Care to seek access services.
